Melvin Guillard Finds New Home at Grudge

After 22 Fights, UFC Releases Melvin Guillard

UFC lightweight Melvin Guillard tweeted on March 24 that he was leaving the Blackzillian Team to rejoin Jackson-Winkeljohn.

“Im no longer a blackzillian I went back to where I belong Jackson's,” the tweet read.

Sources inside the Jackson’s-Winkeljohn camp, however, indicated to MMAWeekly.com that Guillard was not welcome back at the training facility… but he has found a new home.

Guillard has landed at the Grudge Training Center in Colorado.

“Heading to my first workout with team grudge,” Guillard tweeted on Wednesday. “I sleep in a basement these are the thing's I've been missing felt good let's get it.”

During Tuesday’s UFC Tonight, former UFC light heavyweight titleholder and Blackzillian Rashad Evans spoke about Guillard’s departure and his future.

“With Melvin, it’s just finding where Melvin is comfortable at. I think that’s one thing that Melvin really needs to look at. What is the best Melvin? Where does the best Melvin compete from? I think it has a lot to do with what is going on inside of him. It’s not so much where he’s at,” said Evans.

“Melvin is one of the most talented athletes inside the UFC, but he doesn’t know how to find what’s inside of him that gives him that consistent competitive edge,” added Evans. “Once he finds that, no matter where he’s going to be, he’s going to be successful.”

Guillard is scheduled to face Mac Danzig at UFC on Fox 8 on July 27.
