June 3 (The Sports Xchange) - The NHL was quick to address a rumor on Wednesday that one of its franchises could be relocated. Forbes sports business writer Maury Brown tweeted, "File this under rumor ... NHL relocation around the end of June." Commissioner Gary Bettman responded by saying the Florida Panthers were not moving or filing for bankruptcy. The Arizona Coyotes also have been mentioned in relocation rumors the past few years. "There is absolutely no truth to speculation that any NHL franchise is currently considering relocation," NHL deputy commissioner Bill Daly said. "The league and its franchises have never been more stable. There has been no discussion whatsoever regarding a potential relocation and there is a zero percent chance that any franchise will be moved prior to the start of the 2015-16 season." --- Ottawa Senators owner Eugene Melnyk has been discharged from the hospital after undergoing a successful liver transplant. The organization said Wednesday that Melnyk was discharged earlier this week from Toronto General Hospital after surgery on May 19. "Mr. Melnyk's recovery has been proceeding very well since undergoing his transplant," Dr. Atul Humar, the medical director of the University Health Network's Multi-Organ Transplant Program, said in a statement. --- The Washington Capitals and the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League have extended their affiliation agreement through the 2015-16 season. The Bears recently completed their 10th season as Washington's AHL affiliate under the current agreement. Hershey has qualified for the playoffs in nine of the last 10 seasons and won the Calder Cup in back-to-back seasons as the champions of the AHL in 2009 and 2010, as well as in 2006.
