Girls Aloud celebrated the first stop on their reunion tour this Friday, but band member Nicola Roberts had some unconventional preparation for the premiere show. In a social media video, she joked that she had to refresh her memory on the group's lyrics.

In a clip posted to TikTok, Roberts could be seen looking through the words to the 2004 number two hit Love Machine. The 38-year-old pretended to hide her shoddy memory from her bandmates.

The clip was captioned: "POV when you haven't sang a song in a decade and your tour starts on Friday".

The Girls Aloud reunion tour started in Dublin on Friday night, with the group paying tribute to their late bandmate Sarah Harding by singing along with her backing vocals for the song I'll Stand By You.

Immediately after the show, the band posted on X, formerly known as Twitter, in order to praise the fans who had made their first performance so special.

They wrote: "Show 1 done. Dublin you were absolutely INCREDIBLE. What a start to the #TheGirlsAloudShow tour."

The Girls Aloud Show is the band's first tour since their 10th anniversary shows in 2013 and marks their first performances as a group since Harding passed away in 2021. The group will play 30 dates between now and the end of June as part of the packed schedule.

As expected, wannabe concertgoers had to work hard to get hold of tickets for the in-demand shows, with some Girls Aloud fans calling out the process as unnecessarily stressful.

But the gigs are now underway, providing fans of noughties pop with plenty of nostalgia — more than 20 years after the group came together on reality show Popstars: The Rivals.

Girls Aloud went on to score 20 singles that hit the UK top 10, with four of them going all the way to number one. The four included debut hit Sound of the Underground, which earned the coveted Christmas number one spot in 2002.
