Oz dominates opening day of Boxing Day Test despite Pietersen's efforts

Melbourne, Dec 26 (ANI): England has struggled to find form on the opening day of the fourth Ashes Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on Boxing Day, making 226 at the loss of six wickets at stumps. However, England batsman Kevin Pietersen managed to make an unbeaten 67 after being dropped on 41 at the MCG, which saw a world record crowd on Thursday, with the attendance breaking the previous record of 90,800 made in 1961 against West Indies, despite the Test officially being a 'dead rubber' one. The wickets of captain Alastair Cook, Michael Carberry, Joe Root, Ian Bell, Ben Stokes and Jonny Bairstow were taken by Australia, which won the toss in the game. (ANI)
