Pneumonia Scraps Jacare Souza vs. Yoel Romero from UFC 184
Bummer.
A case of pneumonia has taken Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza out of his highly anticipated UFC 184 bout with Yoel Romero, promotional officials announced on Thursday evening.
The bout will remain intact, however, and officials announced that they plan to move it to a later, yet-to-be determined date.
With the Jacare-Romero fight now off the card, a recently announced lightweight match-up between Tony Ferguson and Yancy Medeiros will move up to main-card status.
UFC 184 is scheduled to take place in Los Angeles at Staples Center on Feb. 28. A middleweight title fight between division champion Chris Weidman and No. 1 contender Vitor Belfort will serve as the main event.
