Rain washes out opening T20 match between Proteas and Oz

Sydney, Mar. 10 (ANI): The opening match of the three-match Twenty20 series between Australia and South Africa has been washed out without a single ball being bowled as heavy rain dismantled the T20 venue in Port Elizabeth. The weather has reportedly been bad in Australia as was indicated in the opening match at St. George's Park and it is predicted that Durban will receive 13.4mm of rainfall on the night of the second match, which is due on Thursday. According to News.com.au, Australian cricketer Mithcell Starc said that it was disappointing about the weather and added that he has heard that there is more rain in Durban and Johannesburg. Starc, who wiled away his time waiting for the inevitable with an interstate game of 500, also said that the cards are packed for the first match, but they are hopeful of getting two games in a row. The left-armer, who made his Test debut in 2011 and is keen to play any form of cricket following his injury layoff, is reportedly eager for the upcoming T20 World Cup tournament in Bangladesh since suffering a stress fracture in his lower back almost seven months ago, the report added. T20 rules allow for five-over innings and given the weather condition on the opening match South Africa's big hitting batsman David Miller reportedly confirmed that the outlook for the second T20 match was poor and said that every time there is a match 'on there it seems to rain'.
