Titan FC 31 Main Event Cancelled

The Titan FC 31 bout between Mike Ricci and Yoshiyuki Yoshida not only lost its championship designation; it has now also lost its place on the fight card.

Ricci missed weight on Thursday, which changed the status of the Titan FC 31 main event from a title fight to a five-round non-title bout.

The bar was set at 155 pounds for the bout to be a championship affair, but Ricci reportedly weighed in at 157 pounds. He was fined 20 percent of his fight purse, and the fight was then expected to remain on the card.

Yoshida on Friday, however, seemed to have second thoughts about accepting the 157-pound catchweight affair after it lost its title implications.

“Yoshida has backed out of the fight,” Ricci tweeted on Friday. “Says ‘he doesn't feel right’ Sorry to all of my fans. I wanted nothing more than to fight tonight.”

Titan FC officials did not yet have a comment on the situation at the time of publication, though said a statement was forthcoming.
