UFC 156 Prelims on FX Match Promotion's TV Ratings High Mark on the Network

Piggybacking its promotion on the back of the NFL on Fox, the UFC’s events on FX are seeing a definite return in terms of TV ratings.

The recent UFC 156 Prelims on FX set a new benchmark for preliminary bout telecasts, whether on FX or Fuel TV. The UFC 156: Aldo vs. Edgar Prelims on FX drew 1.9 million viewers for the two-hour telecast, which surpasses the previous high mark of 1.8 million set by the UFC 148: Silva vs. Sonnen II Prelims last July.

Independent industry sources on Tuesday informed MMAWeekly.com of the ratings.

Perhaps the most impressive aspect of the 1.9 million viewers that tuned in for the UFC 156 prelims was that it actually matches the best draw for an actual live event on FX. UFC on FX 7: Belfort vs. Bisping, which took place on Jan. 19 in Brazil, set that mark.

Now that the NFL is on hiatus, the UFC will have to see if its TV ratings can hold steady without the league’s power behind it.
