They say things are bigger in Texas, and the crowd at UFC 171 was evidence of that.

The American Airlines Center hosted 19,324 spectators for the Saturday evening fight card, garnering a gate of $2.6 million, UFC President Dana White said at the card's post-fight press conference.

Those in attendance witnessed the crowning of a new welterweight champion, as Johny Hendricks topped Robbie Lawler in the evening's main event to earn the vacated title, becoming the division's top dog.

In the co-main event, Tyron Woodley got through Carlos Condit to earn the win by technical knockout due to injury. As Condit turned to throw a spinning back kick, his right knee buckled and he fell to the ground in obvious pain. The fight was immediately stopped by the referee due to Condit's inability to continue.

Other main card fights included Myles Jury continuing his undefeated run with a win over Diego Sanchez, as well as Hector Lombard picking up a win over Jake Shields. Ovince St. Preux opened up the main card with a submission of Nikita Krylov.
