UFC Champ Joanna Jedrzejczyk Won't Require Surgery on Broken Thumb

UFC champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk will not require surgery to repair her broken right thumb despite previous reports that stated she would.

During her first title defense at UFC Fight Night 69 against Jessica Penne on June 20, the women’s strawweight champion suffered a broken thumb on her right hand. It was reported on Wednesday’s edition of UFC Tonight that Jedrzejczyk would undergo surgery in Los Angeles, but that’s no longer the case.

Just two days later, the 27-year-old Polish champion posted on her Instagram account that she wouldn’t have to go under the knife.

Having fought five times in the last year, Jedrzejczyk stated that she’s taking some time off from fighting following her third-round TKO win over Penne. She expects to return to the cage in November or December.
