UFC Fight Night 47 Fighter Bonuses: Tim Boetsch Comes From Behind to Win Fight and Bonus

The Ultimate Fighting Championship on Saturday night made its Maine debut with UFC Fight Night 47: Bader vs. St. Preux in Bangor.

The night started off with several decisions, but the main card in particular delivered some exciting bouts and several finishes.

UFC president Dana White announced post-fight awards at a press conference following the event, naming Alan Jouban vs. Seth Baczynski the fight of the night. The bout was a back-and-forth affair at times, but Jouban put a stamp on his promotional debut by knocking Baczynski out in the final minute of the first round.

The two Performance of the Night bonuses weren’t tough for UFC officials to narrow down, although there were four finishes to choose from.

Tim Boetsch, although it looked like he might have been put on the backfoot early, stormed back with a finish eerily similar to his come-from-behind win over Yushin Okami. While Brad Tavares was doing well, Boetsch caught him with a punch midway through the second round that hurt him, and then caught him again with a right hand that put Tavares down and out.

The finish scored Boetsch a $50,000 bonus in addition to the victory.

The other Performance of the Fight honor and $50,000 bonus went to Thiago Tavares.

Finally making his featherweight debut, Tavares looked as dominant as he ever has during his seven-plus years in the Octagon. From the opening bell, Tavares was in control, working Robbie Peralta over until he set up a fight-ending rear naked choke.
