UFC on Fuel TV 8 Weigh-in Results: Silva vs. Stann Set; Diego Sanchez Two Pounds Over

UFC on Fuel TV 8 Most Watched Programming in Network's History; Sets TV Ratings Records

Wanderlei Silva returns to Japan where he became an MMA icon to face “The All-American” Brian Stann at UFC on Fuel TV 8 at Saitama Super Arena in Tokyo, but before the two face off inside the Octagon, they had to make weight on Friday.

Silva has had difficulty getting down to 185 pounds, taking his last fight at a catchweight. He and Stann agreed to instead take the fight at 205 pounds so that neither of them had much of a weight cut to hit the mark.

Stann stepped on the scale at 206 pounds, while “The Axe Murderer” weighed in at 204 pounds.

The co-main event features the UFC’s tallest heavyweight in seven-foot-tall Stefan Struve and the shortest, Mark Hunt, at five-foot-10, but they were separated by just six pounds on the scale.

Diego Sanchez, trying to fulfill a longtime dream of fighting in Japan, came in two pounds over the 156-pound allowance for his first lightweight fight in over three years. He stepped on the scale at 158 pounds and was given one hour to make the cut to 156 pounds.
