World snooker finalist Jak Jones slams 'pathetic' opponents after accusations

Wales' shock World Snooker Championship finalist Jak Jones has hit out at the opponents blaming his style of play during their defeats.

Qualifier Jones has rocked the sport by going all the way to Sunday's final against Kyren Wilson, but he has faced criticism from some fans for a perceived slow and negative style of play. And some of his opponents, including Judd Trump and Stuart Bingham, have claimed his methodical methods put them off their game as they fell to shock losses.

Jones, from Cwmbran, refutes these allegations, labelling them "pathetic".

“They just can't accept it. I mean it's pathetic really, isn't it? Just accept it,” Jones remarked, dismissing the claims made against his style of play.

"Against Judd wasn't great. I noticed I couldn't believe the way he was playing against me. From when I went three up, he just completely changed as a player. I don’t know if it's confidence or what. I was prepared to go into that match playing, attacking, and I thought he started that way, but then to say I knocked him out of his rhythm, I don’t get it,” he told Snooker site SportsBoom.com.

Despite the backlash, Jones insists his style of play is not as negative. “That doesn't affect me. There’s been matches where I’ve played slow, but when I play slow, I get bogged down. But when I don’t feel like I was playing like that, I just won’t accept it,” Jones said.

Asked if he said sought the advice of former Welsh champions like Ray Rearden or Mark Williams, Jones revealed his solitary approach.

“I just tend to keep myself to myself. I get on with everyone but haven’t really had the opportunity. I’m not that kind of person, I just keep myself to myself, but it might be a good idea too,” Jones stated.
