Award-nominated hairstylist Camille Friend recently shared the behind-the-scenes details, revealing the challenges of incorporating Bailey's natural 24-inch locs into Ariel's signature red hair. Unable to use a wig, Friend devised a method of wrapping 30-inch hair extensions around Bailey's locs. The initial attempt took 12 hours but was unsuccessful, leading to costly experimentation. Additionally, to achieve the buoyant underwater look, extra pieces of loose hair were added to the styling. The dedication to authenticity made the production's investment soar to a whopping $150,000.
