Month-Old Wolf Pups Find Their Voices at South Dakota Zoo

A litter of month-old red wolf pups have found their voices at the Great Plains Zoo in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

Footage recorded inside their den shows the pups howling as a group.

The zoo said this was learned behavior, passed down from their parents. “Although they’re only a few weeks old, the pups are already learning pack behavior from their parents, Camelia and Uyosi. This includes howling and learning to cooperate as a group,” they said.

The pups, two females and four males, were born to first-time parents Camelia and Uyosi on May 4, the zoo said. Credit: Great Plains Zoo & Delbridge Museum of Natural History via Storyful
