Postal Truck Overturns After Motorist Runs Through Stop Sign

A postal truck overturned on May 23, after it was clipped by a motorist who failed to stop at a stop sign in Waukesha, Wisconsin.

The accident was recorded by Waukesha resident Douglas Neumann, whose door camera filmed a blue car breezing through the stop sign, followed by the truck crashing.

Waukesha Police Captain Dan Baumann said that the driver of the car, an elderly man, mistook the gas pedal for the brake.

Neumann, who was alerted by the noise of the crash, said he and his wife ran outside to find the truck overturned.

He said that despite wearing flip-flops at the time of the accident, his instinct as a former firefighter kicked in and he climbed on top of the postal truck to check on the driver.

According to local media, officials said that there were no physical injuries, but one witness was taken to the hospital for anxiety. The elderly driver will most likely have to retake a road test, local media said. Credit: Douglas Neumann via Storyful
