Protesters Fill Atlanta City Hall Ahead of Council Vote on 'Cop City' Funding

Protesters filled the atrium in Atlanta City Hall on Monday, June 5, as the city council met for what turned out to be a marathon session, at the end of which they approved funding for a controversial police training center.

Footage by Olivia Harrison shows protesters, who opposed the center, chanting in the hall.

The Atlanta City Council meeting was opened to public comment before the budget vote for the Atlanta Public Training Center, dubbed “Cop City” by protesters.

After hours of contributions stretching far into the night, the council voted in the early hours of Tuesday to adopt a $31 million budget towards the construction of the center. Credit: Olivia Harrison via Storyful
